Village Hall Staff

The Village Hall Staff Team are:

Nicky Cantello - Office Administrator

Sarah Jennings - Office Administrator

Brian Vincent - Senior Caretaker

Ralph Elliott - Caretaker

There is also a dedicated group of volunteers who help manage the Hall. Would you like to become involved? Perhaps you'd like to help organise entertainments for the local residents to enjoy, or have a say in how the building is run and managed. We'd always love to hear from you if you'd like to get involved with your village hall.

Village Hall Chairperson Required

I will be standing down as Chair of the Village Hall Committee in October. I have enjoyed this role for 4 years; it has been challenging and stimulating and a great experience to work with a friendly and supportive committee and a brilliant staff team but I have done my stint and it is time for others to take this on.

Traditionally, the members of the committee have been members of local organisations and clubs who use the hall but recently the support of those organisations has reduced - mostly due to natural demographic changes.  We need more volunteers, especially younger villagers.

We have identified four particular areas in which we need help.

1.      Help with organising the maintenance of the fabric of the building.  This involves deciding on priorities, supervising minor works and making recommendations to the committee for larger projects.

2.     Help with the organisation of events with an income raising element, not all of which actually take place in the hall.  These may include shared fundraising events such as the open gardens and scarecrow competition which this year takes place in the Jubilee week and the occasional musical and theatrical productions.  We are, of course open to suggestions for new activities.

3.     Help from someone who can deal with raising funds from various grants and other sources available to organisations like the hall involved with community activities.  We need help in seeking commercial sponsorship for aspects of hall improvements.

4.     Help with promoting the facilities that we offer in a more high profile manner.

We are fortunate to have a spacious, modern and attractive hall capable of enhancing the recreational and social needs of the village. It makes sense to maximise it use for all age groups and interests. If you can spare some time, even a little and from home, it will help. Please call the office on 622580 if you are interested in helping. Thank you.

The Village Hall goes Green!

The trustees have accepted an estimate to install a 10kw array of photovoltaic solar panels on the main roof of the village hall (at the top of the slope that goes down to the front door).

Even with the recent reductions in the feed-in tariffs, the investment is expected to generate both significant income and a substantial saving on our energy bills.

The work has now been completed.

No More Echoing!

The Village Hall are pleased to announce the completion of works to the Onyx Craft Room, involving the fitting of sound-proofing tiles to the ceiling.
This has greatly reduced the echoing in the room and should be much more pleasant for groups to work in.

We have Wi-Fi!

The Village Hall is now pleased to offer all our customers free wi-fi access.
We recognise the many different needs of our hirers and hope that this additional facility will assist at least some of those with their business whilst at the Village Hall.
